NAKSHA is a one-year pilot initiative launched by the DoLR as part of the Digital India Land Records Modernization Programme (DILRMP).
Its aim is to transform urban land records across 157 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) in 27 States and 3 Union Territories, covering an area of over 4484 sq. km and benefiting more than 1.5 crore citizens.
Utilizing advanced aerial and field surveying techniques, NAKSHA is developing an all-encompassing, GIS-integrated database of urban land parcels.
This initiative is supported by the technical expertise of the Survey of India, NICSI, MPSeDC, and five national Centres of Excellence.
As over 600 million individuals are anticipated to inhabit Indian cities by 2031, the demand for accurate and accessible urban land records is increasingly crucial.
NAKSHA is vital in meeting this need by facilitating transparent property ownership, enhancing urban planning, and promoting improved infrastructure development.
Furthermore, it aids in boosting municipal revenue collection, enhancing disaster preparedness and response, and increasing public trust and private investment via reliable, legally certified land data.
