New Delhi, Oct 31 (NationPress) President Droupadi Murmu on Friday spearheaded the nation in honoring India’s inaugural Deputy Prime Minister and 'Iron Man', Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, on his 150th birth anniversary, commemorated nationwide as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day).
In a message on X, President Murmu expressed, “On the birth anniversary of ‘Iron Man’ Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, I convey my warmest wishes to all my fellow citizens. Sardar Patel was an exceptional patriot, visionary leader, and nation-builder, who achieved the monumental task of unifying the country through his unwavering determination, remarkable courage, and skilled leadership. His commitment and spirit of national service inspire us all. On this occasion of ‘National Unity Day’, let us come together and commit to creating a robust, harmonious, and exemplary India.”
The President also laid floral tributes to Sardar Patel during a ceremony in New Delhi.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also honored the Iron Man, referring to him as the architect of India's unification.
“India pays tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his 150th Jayanti. He was the catalyst for India's integration, shaping our nation's trajectory during its foundational years. His steadfast commitment to national integrity, effective governance, and public service continues to motivate generations. In a video address, the Prime Minister stated, “Sardar Patel possessed an extraordinary ability to unite individuals, even those with differing ideologies.
