Amaravati, April 20 (NationPress) Two young men tragically lost their lives while engaged in a game of cricket when they were struck by lightning in the Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh on Sunday.
Another youth was left with severe injuries as a result of the incident, which took place in Pedda Obineni Palle within the Bestawaripeta mandal.
The victims were identified as Akash (18) and Sunny (17). The injured youth has been taken to a local hospital for treatment. Following the occurrence, the village was enveloped in sadness.
In a separate unfortunate event near Hyderabad, a young man succumbed to cardiac arrest while playing cricket. This incident unfolded under the jurisdiction of Keesara Police Station in the Medchal Malkajgiri district.
M. Praneeth (32) collapsed during a cricket match with friends on a local field in Rampalli Daira. His friends quickly transported him to a hospital, but he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Medical professionals suspect that the youth experienced a cardiac arrest.
Praneeth, employed in the private sector and originally from Old Bowenpalli in Hyderabad, had complained of chest pains before collapsing while playing at the Thyagi Sports Venue.
Authorities have filed a case and are conducting an investigation.
This marks the second incident of its kind reported in Hyderabad this month. Earlier, a student from an engineering college tragically passed away while playing cricket at CMR College.
The student, who was from Khammam district and in his final year of B. Tech, collapsed on the field. Friends rushed him to a hospital, but he was already gone.
A concerning trend has emerged with several young individuals experiencing cardiac arrests during sports activities or workouts at gyms.
Last year, a tech professional lost his life under similar circumstances in Maheshwaram, located on the outskirts of Hyderabad.
Kasireddy Sanjay Bhargav (24), originally from Visakhapatnam district of Andhra Pradesh, collapsed while playing cricket with friends at KCR Cricket Stadium in Gattupally.
