Patna, June 4 (NationPress) A disturbing incident of brutal violence linked to a romantic relationship has emerged from the Hussainganj police station area in Siwan district, Bihar. Here, a 19-year-old youth, Sanjay Kumar Mahato, was reportedly attacked by the relatives of his girlfriend in Rafipur village.
The young man ultimately succumbed to numerous injuries sustained during his hospital treatment.
As per official reports, Sanjay visited his girlfriend late on Tuesday night, at which point her family apprehended him.
They mercilessly assaulted him and left the injured youth near a temple in a state of unconsciousness.
On Wednesday morning, a police unit found him near the Jarti Mai temple and rushed him to Siwan Sadar Hospital, where he tragically passed away.
The victim’s mother, Dulari Devi, stated that Sanjay had been in a relationship with the girl for over a year, having met through Facebook.
Despite previous family pressure and police attempts earlier this year to end their relationship, the couple reportedly continued to meet in secret.
Sanjay’s family explained that his visit to the village was linked to an upcoming family wedding. While there, the girl allegedly requested to meet him, but once she stepped outside, her family intervened, captured Sanjay, and assaulted him.
Tensions flared after the hospital confirmed his death.
Furious family members and local residents gathered outside Sadar Hospital, demanding justice.
They blocked the road with the deceased’s body, disrupting traffic, including ambulances, and set fire to the road, accusing local authorities of inaction and a biased investigation.
As the situation escalated, family members and villagers threatened to burn down the police station and hospital if immediate and severe action was not taken against the assailants.
They also appealed to the Chief Minister, demanding justice and warning of intensified protests if their pleas went unheeded.
A police team, led by SDPO Sadar Jitendra Kumar, arrived at the scene to pacify the protesters.
“We have pledged to take swift action against the accused. A dedicated team has been formed to apprehend them. We have also stationed sufficient police personnel at the village and hospital to restore order and manage the escalating tensions,” Kumar stated.
Authorities confirmed that an investigation is currently underway, and actions will be based on the findings.
