Madhya Pradesh: BJP Leaders Convene to Discuss Candidates for 'Zila Adhyaksh' Role

Bhopal, Jan 3 (NationPress) A committee of senior BJP leaders, featuring the party's joint national general secretary Shiv Prakash and Madhya Pradesh in-charge Mahendra Singh, gathered on Thursday to conduct discussions with the recommended candidates for the position of district president of the party.

The BJP committee, which also included state BJP President V. D. Sharma and state general secretary (organisation) Hiranand Sharma, engaged in one-on-one sessions with the nominees at the party headquarters in Bhopal.

The meeting process is expected to carry on into Friday, as additional candidates nominated for the position of district head from various districts have yet to participate.

Upon concluding the meeting series, the BJP panel will aim to reach a consensus on one final candidate from each district.

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and several other senior ministers are also anticipated to join the meeting to facilitate consensus-building.

Afterward, the list will be submitted to the BJP's central leadership for final approval.

New district presidents are expected to be appointed by the conclusion of the first two weeks of the New Year.

The state unit of the BJP, under the leadership of Khajuraho MP V. D. Sharma, has compiled a list of three to four names for the zila adhyaksh (district head) position after several rounds of discussions over the past four weeks.

A total of 60 zila adhyaksh will be appointed across Madhya Pradesh.

Significantly, following their victories in the Assembly elections in November 2023 and all 29 Lok Sabha seats in 2024 in Madhya Pradesh, the BJP has embarked on restructuring its organization from the grassroots to both district and state levels.

As part of the ongoing organizational restructuring aimed at fortifying its grassroots cadre, the BJP has completed elections for its multi-layered Booth and Mandal committees.

A 12-member booth committee consists of one president and eleven members.

This election process was primarily necessary for appointing the committee chairs.

The remaining eleven members include WhatsApp Pramukh, Labharthi Pramukh, a secretary, Maan Ki Baat Pramukh, and a booth-level agent.

The Labharthi Pramukh is responsible for identifying beneficiaries of central and state government schemes and will report to the WhatsApp Pramukh at the booth level, who in turn provides real-time feedback from the grassroots to the state party headquarters.

The WhatsApp Pramukh is tasked with collecting daily updates from other Pramukhs and conveying this information to the state party headquarters, in addition to planning and executing various organizational initiatives.
