Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh), Sep 6 (NationPress) The government of Madhya Pradesh is set to enlist the expertise of seasoned administrative and police officials who previously served in Ujjain during the last two Simhastha (Kumbh) festivals to facilitate preparations for the upcoming 2028 event.
This decision emerged from a review meeting led by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav late on Friday, aimed at leveraging the knowledge of former officials, including retirees, who contributed during the 2004 and 2016 festivals.
CM Yadav emphasized the significance of Simhastha 2028, asserting that the insights of these experienced officials will be crucial for its success.
Moreover, he mentioned that the state has analyzed the arrangements made for the Maha Kumbh held in Prayagraj earlier this year to guarantee that the Ujjain event sets a benchmark in terms of convenience for the pilgrims.
Among the senior officials present at the meeting were Chief Secretary Anurag Jain and Director General of Police (DGP) Kailash Makwana.
Yadav indicated that a comprehensive meeting had also taken place the previous Tuesday, and such evaluations and consultations would persist.
Responsibilities have been delegated to the relevant departments, and preparations will be periodically reviewed, as stated by the Chief Minister.
He also noted that necessary support is being obtained from pertinent departments of the Central Government for Simhastha 2028.
Recently, general managers from various railway zones consulted him regarding the enhancement of railway services for Simhastha in the temple city.
"Efforts are being concentrated on the development of ghats and nearby facilities to ensure seamless bathing arrangements for devotees," Yadav remarked.
The state tourism department, in collaboration with the private sector, will provide hotel accommodations, and housing arrangements for police and departmental staff will also be established.
Notably, IAS officers at the rank of Additional Chief Secretary and Principal Secretary from each department, along with the Ujjain district administration and police, have been included in the task force overseeing preparations for Simhastha 2028.
The month-long Simhastha (Kumbh) Mela, recognized as one of the largest Hindu gatherings, is organized every twelve years in Ujjain. The last Simhastha occurred from April 22 to May 21, 2016, alongside the banks of the Shipra, attracting millions of devotees from across the globe.
