Ujjain, May 12 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Mohan Yadav, announced on Monday that the forthcoming Simhastha Kumbh Mela-2028 in Ujjain is set to boost religious tourism, enhance economic growth, and facilitate comprehensive development across the state.
This declaration followed a review of multiple ongoing initiatives associated with the Simhastha Kumbh in the regions of Indore and Ujjain.
Additionally, the Chief Minister sanctioned various new projects focused on infrastructure, roads, and more during a meeting convened in Ujjain.
"The Simhastha Kumbh Mela scheduled for 2028 in Ujjain has received approval for numerous developmental projects, with directives issued to accelerate the progress of ongoing initiatives," CM Yadav informed the media after leading a review session with senior officials and public representatives.
He emphasized that preparations for the Simhastha are being meticulously coordinated among various state and central government departments.
In addition to state-led efforts, the central government has also initiated several projects related to the Simhastha-2028.
"It is crucial to ensure that the infrastructure being developed for Simhastha serves long-term benefits, particularly in terms of promoting religious tourism and enhancing the state's economy in the future. The upcoming Simhastha Kumbh will be advantageous in numerous aspects," he remarked.
Furthermore, CM Yadav has instructed that all Simhastha related work be finalized by June 2027, along with monthly evaluations of progress.
This includes widening the roads and pathways in Ujjain, which has seen an increased flow of devotees since the inception of the Shri Mahakal Lok.
The Chief Minister also underscored the necessity of reducing walking distances and the deployment of e-vehicles.
Prioritizing disaster and fire management is essential, according to CM Yadav.
Seven major access routes to Ujjain city have been approved for development as four-lane roads, with one significant route designated as a six-lane thoroughfare.
CM Yadav has mandated that construction on these routes be expedited.
In the previous Simhastha in 2016, a staggering 75 million individuals participated in the month-long event.
