Kochi, Nov 7 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually inaugurate the inaugural service of the Ernakulam-KSR Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express from Varanasi on Saturday, as confirmed by government officials on Friday.
This new service marks the third Vande Bharat route for Kerala and the 12th pair within the Southern Railway network.
According to officials from Southern Railway, this service aims to strengthen regional connectivity and foster economic and social relationships between Kerala and Karnataka.
The introduction of the Ernakulam–Bengaluru Vande Bharat is part of the ongoing initiative by Indian Railways to enhance semi-high-speed rail connectivity among key southern cities.
This train will ensure seamless transportation between Ernakulam, the commercial center of Kerala, and Bengaluru, the IT hub of India, offering significant advantages to professionals, entrepreneurs, and students.
The train will travel through Thrissur, Palakkad, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Erode, Salem, and Krishnarajapuram before arriving in Bengaluru.
Special ceremonial events will take place at all these stations, featuring live streaming of the Prime Minister's inauguration.
Public representatives, officials, students, and locals are expected to attend, with the train receiving a warm welcome at each stop.
The inaugural train, numbered 06652, will depart from Ernakulam Junction at 8 a.m. and reach KSR Bengaluru by 5:50 p.m. on the same day.
The service will consist of an eight-coach Vande Bharat train equipped with modern passenger amenities.
The main event featuring the Prime Minister will occur at Banaras Railway Station, where he will also unveil three additional Vande Bharat Express services: Banaras–Khajuraho, Lucknow–Saharanpur, and Firozpur Cantt–Delhi.
Ceremonies will be held at Ernakulam and along the route in both Kerala and Tamil Nadu, including Thrissur, Palakkad, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Erode, and Salem.
Currently, Kerala has two pairs of Vande Bharat services operational, which are fully booked on most days.
