Bhopal, March 16 (NationPress) Ujjain-based Maharshi Panini Sanskrit and Vedic University (formerly known as Maharshi Panini Sanskrit Vishwavidyalaya) in Madhya Pradesh has made a significant decision to replace the term 'India' with 'Bharat' in all official documents of the university.

This resolution, which was approved during a recent executive council meeting, seeks to honor a term that embodies the nation’s rich heritage. The unanimous decision was confirmed by Prof Vijayakumar CG, the university's vice chancellor, in a phone interview with IANS.

Moving forward, 'Bharat' will be prominently featured across various platforms, including the university's website, student resources, and the official calendar. The institution intends to incorporate the term 'Bharat' in as many official documents as possible.

With this move, the university has set a precedent in the state by adopting 'Bharat' for official documentation. Member of the Executive Council, Gaurav Dhakad, suggested prioritizing the term 'Bharat' during discussions.

According to sources, the executive council has agreed that all materials related to the university, including administrative documents and student resources, should bear the name 'Bharat'. This initiative is seen as a tribute to the country’s identity and aims to inspire enhanced cultural pride, as noted by the council.

In another initiative, the university plans to enhance public engagement with the Sanskrit language, starting from its foundation in the temple town of Ujjain.

Skilled students from the university will serve as promoters of the language, providing instruction to those interested in learning Sanskrit. To support this, a 'Resource Pool System' has been established on the university's website, offering information about qualified instructors. Interested individuals can arrange for home tutoring or participate in community classes. This initiative aims to make Sanskrit more accessible and deepen the connection to India’s cultural heritage, according to sources.

The fifth convocation of the university is set for March 31 at the Kalidas Sanskrit Academy, where scholars and researchers will be recognized for their accomplishments, and financial accounts for the year will be discussed at the next council meeting.

This public state university was established under the Madhya Pradesh Act of 2008. The university's motto, derived from Mahakavi Dandi’s Kavyadarsha, states that 'Sanskrit is the language of Gods and incorporating it into daily life helps us to achieve divine qualities.'
