Sabarkantha, April 4 (NationPress) A new facility of the Shri Bhagwan Yagyavalkya Ved Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya was inaugurated on Saturday in Mudeti village within Gujarat's Sabarkantha district. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel remarked that this institution would act as a hub for safeguarding Vedic knowledge while preparing students for modern challenges.

The inauguration event, which spanned three days, took place in a spiritual ambiance and was graced by Jagadguru Shankaracharya Swami Sadanand Saraswati, who bestowed blessings upon the gathering.

During the event, Chief Minister Patel was conferred with the 'Sadadharma Samaj Seva Ratna' by the Bhagwan Yajnavalkya Veda Tatvagyan Yogashram Trust.

In his address, the Chief Minister emphasized that this inauguration represents much more than just a new building.

"This Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya is not just an institution; it is a sacred centre of consciousness that will enlighten our understanding of Sanatan knowledge and Vedic traditions," he stated.

Moreover, he highlighted that the National Education Policy initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi prioritizes reconnecting youth with India’s rich cultural heritage.

"This complex will fulfill the vision of 'Vikas Bhi, Virasat Bhi', nurturing traditional knowledge among the youth," Chief Minister Patel expressed, assuring that students would not only become scholars but also vital contributors to nation-building.

Stressing the significance of Sanskrit, he noted that the language is essential for comprehending India’s Vedic and philosophical traditions.

"Without Sanskrit, comprehending our history is impossible," he remarked, while acknowledging the efforts of institutions like Somnath Sanskrit University and the Gujarat State Sanskrit Board in preserving the language.

In addition to Sanskrit, he assured that students in this remote region would also receive education in subjects like English and computer studies.

In a broader context, Chief Minister Patel stated that this institution will play a role in achieving the vision of 'Viksit Bharat @ 2047', reinforcing the importance of taking pride in India's cultural legacy during the 'Amrit Kaal' of Independence.

Swami Sadanand Saraswati, in his remarks, characterized Sanskrit as the bedrock of India's spiritual and intellectual legacy.

"Sanskrit is not merely a language; it is the wellspring of knowledge and values passed down through generations by our sages," he emphasized.

He further highlighted that the fusion of education and values at the new facility will equip future generations to uphold Vedic knowledge and promote Indian culture on a global scale.

He also underscored the message of unity in diversity, portraying the institution as a merger of educational and cultural values.

The Mahavidyalaya has its roots in the endeavors of Narmadashankar Bhavanishankar Shukla, who founded the Veda Vidyalaya to preserve the teachings of the Shukla Yajurveda and the Upanishads.

The trust was re-established in 1988 under the guidance of Narmadashankar Bhavanishankar Shukla, along with the support of Anantdev Harishankar Shukla and Vaidyaraj Aniruddh Shukla, inspired by Pandurang Shastri.

The institution was officially established on February 17, 1997, and has since evolved into a center for Vedic education.

Attendees at the event included trustee Uday Mahurkar, State Minister P.C. Baranda, various legislators, office-bearers, and students.
