Chennai, Sep 28 (NationPress) The Madras High Court has slated an urgent hearing for 4:30 p.m. on Sunday concerning a petition that seeks to prevent actor-turned-politician Vijay's Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) from conducting public rallies and meetings until a thorough investigation is finalized regarding the tragic stampede at its event in Karur, Tamil Nadu, which resulted in the deaths of 39 individuals.
A vacation bench led by Justice N. Senthilkumar has accepted the petition submitted by N. Senthilkannan from Karur district and scheduled it for 4:30 p.m..
The petitioner has urged the court to prohibit the Tamil Nadu Director General of Police/Head of Police Force (DGP/HoPF) from granting approvals for any TVK events until comprehensive safety measures are established in the aftermath of the disaster.
