Mumbai, July 16 (NationPress) A unique camaraderie was evident between the ruling party and the opposition during the farewell of the Shiv Sena-UBT leader and Leader of Opposition Ambadas Danve in the Maharashtra State Council on Wednesday, as his term nears its end in August this year.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis extended an intriguing invitation to former Chief Minister and Shiv Sena-UBT Chief Uddhav Thackeray, who was present in the assembly, suggesting he could join the ruling MahaYuti coalition.

"Uddhavji, we have no tasks left until 2029. We have no room to return to the opposition. However, you have the chance to join us here (on the Treasury benches). We can explore this differently. Let's engage in a distinct conversation," Fadnavis remarked.

Thackeray, while maintaining a lighthearted demeanor, did not respond directly to Fadnavis' proposal.

Earlier, CM Fadnavis and Thackeray exchanged greetings at Vidhan Bhavan before the assembly session.

In his address, Fadnavis referred to Shiv Sena as still being a friend (in the context of the BJP's alliance with Eknath Shinde's faction) but acknowledged changes resulting from the party split.

He praised the outgoing Leader of Opposition Ambadas Danve, stating, "Ambadas Danve is retiring on August 29, just before the next Assembly session. Despite currently being part of Uddhav Thackeray's Shiv Sena, he began his political journey with our BJP. He has been a competent leader. Although disputes arose leading him to switch parties, he has held various roles in Shiv Sena after starting his career in the BJP. With a background in mass communication and journalism, he transitioned from a news compiler to a news provider. His determination and scholarly approach were evident during his time with us."

Fadnavis humorously noted, "Danve was born on December 8, 1970, while I was born on July 22, 1970. As long as Rahul Gandhi is regarded as a youth leader, we will also be considered youth leaders, given he is merely six months my senior. Hence, we need not worry as long as he holds that title."

He highlighted Danve's commitment to Hindutva, mentioning his vocal stance against loudspeakers in places of worship and his support for Savarkar.

Earlier, Thackeray commended Danve for his contributions to the party, even amidst the division that occurred in June 2022.

"My colleague Ambadas Danve is concluding his first term and is not retiring; he will return. I express my gratitude to the Chief Minister for providing us with dedicated workers like Ambadas, whom we welcomed into our party."

Thackeray then playfully questioned CM Fadnavis, saying, "Will the Chief Minister express gratitude to us? Will he acknowledge what he has gained from us (as a result of Eknath Shinde's departure from Shiv Sena to join the BJP-led MahaYuti)?"

He emphasized, "Positions may change, but what truly matters is our image in the public's perception."

Thackeray also jested about Eknath Shinde while honoring Danve, stating, "It’s been mentioned that you (Danve) were not born into privilege... yet you never complained about it."

This was a direct reference to Shinde’s frequent comments about Thackeray being born with advantages, contrasting with Shinde’s rise from humble beginnings.

He further commended Danve for his loyalty post-split, stating, "Danve did not defect because he was enticed by a better offer."
