Maharashtra CID Detains Two Suspects in Beed Sarpanch Homicide

Mumbai, Jan 4 (NationPress) The Maharashtra Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has successfully apprehended two suspects who were on the run after the murder of Massajog sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh in Beed district on December 9.

The suspects, Sudarshan Ghule and Sudhir Sangle, are set to be presented before the court shortly.

Recently, law enforcement took into custody an individual who assisted the suspects. Reports indicate that this person provided the CID team with critical information regarding the location of Ghule and Sangle.

Another suspect, Krishna Andhale, remains at large.

These arrests follow the recent surrender of Walmik Karad, a close ally of NCP minister Dhananjay Munde from Beed, who was sought in connection with an extortion case related to the murder of Santosh Deshmukh.

The case has been filed at Kej Police Station in Beed district against seven individuals, including Ghule, Andhale, Sangle, Mahesh Sakharam Kedar, Jayram Manik Chate, Pratik Bhimrao Ghule, and Vishnu Mahadev Chate.

Previously, authorities arrested Kedar, Chate, Bhimrao Ghule, and Mahadev Chate, who are now in police custody.

The police have also issued a reward for information leading to the capture of Ghule, Sangle, and Andhale.

The apprehension of these two fugitives is significant as Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has declared that the government will take stringent measures against those guilty.

"I have been stating from the outset that rigorous action will be pursued against every individual implicated in the Santosh Deshmukh murder case. No one is entitled to perpetrate such violence. The police will ensure that all culprits face justice," he proclaimed.

"We will not permit the reign of criminals to persist. No one can perpetrate such violence or extort money. Consequently, we have expedited the investigation, compelling Walmik Karad to surrender. Now, various teams are mobilized to apprehend the absconding suspects involved in the murder. We will ensure that all responsible parties are brought to justice," the chief minister affirmed.

Meanwhile, pressure is increasing on CM Fadnavis from both the BJP and certain factions of the NCP to prevent Dhananjay Munde from continuing as the Guardian Minister of Beed district until the CID concludes its investigation into the sarpanch’s murder.

NCP legislator Prakash Solanke has insisted that Munde be appointed as a minister without any portfolio during the ongoing inquiry.

Furthermore, the opposition has called for Munde’s resignation and has requested that the sarpanch murder case be tried outside Beed.
