Pune, Aug 20 (NationPress) Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis emphasized on Wednesday that embracing artificial intelligence is crucial for positive advancement. While instances of digital financial fraud linked to AI are emerging, it is vital to utilize artificial intelligence in a responsible and constructive manner.
The application of AI in healthcare for remote regions and in pharmaceutical production exemplifies its potential. He made these statements during the inauguration of the Symbiosis Artificial Intelligence Institute at Symbiosis International University.
“Currently, we are witnessing significant transformations brought about by artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and semiconductors. If we efficiently harness the challenges posed by such technologies, we can observe positive results in terms of progress speed and efficiency. Indians possess the capability to thrive amidst the rapid evolution of artificial intelligence. To facilitate this, educational institutions are essential for disseminating this knowledge to the general population. Symbiosis has taken a timely initiative in this regard, and the SAI will emerge as a pioneering institution in our country,” stated the Chief Minister.
CM Fadnavis highlighted that this is the opportune moment to understand artificial intelligence and lead the charge in this revolution, noting that the state government has initiated efforts to incorporate artificial intelligence in the agriculture sector. This technology will aid farmers at every agricultural stage, making their lives more manageable. Innovative AI-based technologies were displayed during the Agri Hackathon in Pune.
“The state government has developed AI chatbots to address farmers' inquiries in their native languages. Additionally, the government has partnered with Google to leverage artificial intelligence for traffic solutions in Pune, providing immediate information for traffic planning.
“This technology can be applied in various ways to enhance human life. The state government has established three AI institutes in Mumbai, Pune, and Nagpur in collaboration with Microsoft. These institutes will cover multiple sectors, including law enforcement, administration, agriculture, and technology, while also providing citizens with foundational knowledge of artificial intelligence,” he added.
CM Fadnavis remarked that the proliferation of artificial intelligence has ignited discussions about societal challenges, particularly concerning its effects on employment.
“Similar concerns arose during the internet and computer revolution in the 1990s, but the country transformed this revolution into an opportunity, establishing Indian dominance in the information technology sector globally. Today, we have a chance to lead in this domain by imparting AI knowledge to the general populace,” he concluded.
