Mumbai, Oct 4 (NationPress) Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis revealed on Saturday that the recruitment process for the Maharashtra Public Service Commission will be expedited, aiming to fill a significant number of positions by 2026.

Recognizing that the roles and responsibilities associated with various government posts have evolved, amendments will be made to the service entry rules for all cadre positions in the state.

During the state-level event of the State Employment Fair, the General Administration Department issued appointment letters to 10,309 candidates in the clerical category based on compassionate grounds.

Appointment letters were handed out to 20 candidates by notable figures, including Chief Minister Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, representing the government.

CM Fadnavis stated that to enhance the efficiency and dynamism of the state government, efforts are being directed towards reforming service entry rules, resolving pending cases on compassionate grounds, and ensuring a transparent recruitment process facilitated by the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC).

"To expedite the MPSC recruitment process, a committee led by the Additional Chief Secretary from the General Administration Department has been established, which will analyze practices from other states. Thus far, 80% of compassionate appointments have been finalized, with the remaining cases expected to be settled shortly. The government is dedicated to strengthening the state administration, prioritizing a responsive and citizen-focused approach, supported by a 100-day and subsequently 150-day program that has initiated numerous reforms," he elaborated.

The Chief Minister highlighted the crucial contributions of Additional Chief Secretary V Radha in implementing significant changes following her appointment in the General Administration Department.

CM Fadnavis noted that the service entry regulations of many departments have remained unchanged for 50 years.

"In light of technological advancements, the nature and responsibilities of roles, from clerical positions to higher levels, have transformed significantly, yet the rules have not been updated. This initiative aims to amend the service entry rules to address vacant positions and resolve the backlog of compassionate appointments. All prior government decisions in this regard were revised to streamline the process," he remarked.

"Providing jobs on compassionate grounds is not a privilege, but rather the responsibility of the government. We operate under the principle that if an employee faces a crisis, it is our duty to support their families. Thanks to these reforms, 80% of compassionate posts have been filled, and the remaining 20% will soon follow suit," he added.

He shared the poignant story of Anushka Prakash More, daughter of martyred Sub-Inspector Prakash Pandurang More, who was appointed today through the compassionate process. "It is critical that we have finally provided justice to the daughter of an officer who lost his life in the senseless terrorist attack of 26/11/2008. Despite the challenges posed by existing rules, we advocated with the MPSC to grant her an exemption and successfully secured her appointment. We take pride in delivering justice in this instance," expressed the Chief Minister.

Furthermore, he announced the decision to facilitate clerical cadre appointments through the MPSC. "In the absence of transparency in recruitment, hardworking individuals suffer greatly. Consequently, we have appointed around 1 lakh individuals after conducting exams via reputable organizations like IBPS and TCS, which includes 40,000 police officers. Future appointments will be made by revising the service entry rules and expediting recruitment processes," he stated.

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar congratulated over 10,000 candidates receiving appointment letters, declaring it a historic day as the government has resolved nearly 80% of the pending compassionate cases, with a focus on transparency and speed in recruitment.

The government has alleviated the burden on numerous families by eliminating technical and administrative barriers. Among the total of 10,309 candidates, the highest number of 3,078 hails from the Konkan region, followed by 2,597 from Vidarbha. The Pune region contributed 1,674 candidates, 1,250 from the Nashik region, and 1,710 from Marathwada.
