Mumbai, Oct 10 (NationPress) The Maharashtra Airport Development Company Ltd (MADC), a state-owned entity, has partnered with Fira Barcelona International, a prominent trade fair organization, by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to construct an exceptional exhibition, convention, cultural, and academic facility in Nagpur.
The MoU was executed in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Juan Antonio, the Spanish Ambassador to India, and Ricard Zapatero, CEO of Fira Barcelona International, among other dignitaries.
Fadnavis emphasized the importance of ensuring that the site chosen for the convention centre in Nagpur is well-connected through various transportation options.
He further remarked, “The envisioned convention centre in Nagpur should serve not only for exhibitions and various events but also as a significant venue for cultural activities. The internal design of the convention centre should communicate the rich history of Nagpur, making it an attractive space equipped with cutting-edge technology and a model of eco-friendly architecture.”
The Spanish Ambassador highlighted the robust relationship between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, which contributes to the strengthening of bilateral ties between Spain and India.
“India is transforming the lives of its citizens through artificial intelligence and modern technology, garnering global attention. Mumbai is emerging as a 'powerhouse' not only for India but for South Asia as well. Thus, Spain is eager to collaborate with Maharashtra, which has Mumbai as its capital,” he stated.
Previously, during the 'Global Fintech Fest 2025', Fadnavis noted that a clear vision, quick decision-making, and timely execution are the three vital components of Maharashtra's growth.
He pointed out that several projects, such as the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link, had been stalled for decades; however, the decision-making process has been expedited through the ‘Infrastructure War Room’.
In the past, the initial phase of the Mumbai Metro took six years for planning alone, yet the government reached the tender stage for the 372 km metro network in just 11 months.
