Mumbai, July 11 (NationPress) The Public Works Minister, Shivendrasinh Raje Bhosale, announced in the Legislative Assembly that a collaborative meeting will soon occur with Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari to discuss critical strategies aimed at curbing the rising number of road accidents in the state.
This statement was made in response to a calling attention motion raised by NCP member Vijaysinh Pandit, highlighting the tragic loss of life in a recent accident on the national highway in Gevrai Taluka of Beed District.
Minister Bhosale emphasized that a technology-driven system has been introduced to tackle road accidents effectively across the state.
“This innovative system documents various hazardous spots on roads with photographic evidence. Moreover, a District Road Safety Committee has been established for every district, comprising technical experts. Concerning the accidents in Beed district, a meeting will convene under the leadership of Deputy Chief Minister and Guardian Minister Ajit Pawar to implement essential safety measures. Infrastructure enhancements such as technical upgrades, improved signage, speed control mechanisms, and protective measures at dangerous turns will be prioritized on accident-prone highways,” he stated.
Several legislators, including Suresh Dhas, Babasaheb Deshmukh, Amol Jawale, Manoj Kayande, Hikmat Udhan, and Shekhar Nikam, reported road accidents in their areas and urged for a timely plan to mitigate such incidents.
In a related discussion, Environment Minister Pankaja Munde announced in the assembly that a meeting concerning the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) will be organized with relevant agencies and District Collectors to assess the current status of mangroves and the protective actions required in the state. This was in response to a query from member Shantaram More.
“Mangrove forests serve as a crucial barrier against the sea. Therefore, their protection and preservation are vital for maintaining environmental balance. A Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) Committee has been established. The responsibility of safeguarding these forests is collective. Any illegal encroachments involving the dumping of fill or debris will face strict legal action,” she assured.
