Mumbai, March 12 (NationPress) Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced on Wednesday that the primary health centers in 18 districts of Maharashtra are undergoing solar electrification. The solar electrification process has been completed in eight districts, while it is currently underway in ten others.
This solar electrification initiative will be executed in two phases.
During the first phase, 250 primary health centers have been outfitted with solar energy solutions, and by June 2026, a total of 2,000 centers will be powered by solar energy. He expressed his optimism that the integration of solar energy will significantly improve the availability of quality healthcare services throughout the state.
“As traditional energy resources are finite, there is an increasing urgency to pivot towards renewable energy sources. The government is dedicated to advancing the renewable energy sector and boosting energy production through sustainable practices. The SELCO Foundation is actively engaged in promoting renewable energy usage in the state.
“The solar electrification of primary health centers in Nashik, Ahilyanagar, Jalgaon, Buldhana, Gadchiroli, Nagpur, Latur, and Wardha has been successfully completed. Additionally, ten more districts will soon have solar-powered primary health centers with the support of the Foundation, enabling them to become energy self-sufficient. This initiative is anticipated to yield substantial savings on electricity expenses. The solar projects will guarantee a continuous 24-hour power supply to primary health centers, thus fortifying healthcare services,” stated the chief minister.
He also mentioned that adopting solar energy will foster environmental awareness at the community level and elevate the quality of patient care. The shift to solar energy will substantially cut down carbon emissions and aid in tackling pollution.
A prominent organization in the renewable energy sector had previously accomplished the solar electrification of primary health centers in eight districts to enhance healthcare services and advocate for sustainable energy solutions.
