During the Bhupendra Chandra Dutta Bhowmik Merit-cum-Means Award-2025 event, he highlighted that education plays a crucial role in shaping individuals into responsible citizens.
“Numerous educational institutions have been established in the state, particularly in the higher education sector. We are now witnessing students from outside Tripura coming here to pursue their studies,” said Saha, who also manages the education department.
He encouraged students to take on greater responsibilities towards their communities by engaging in various social initiatives.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the progress of a state or nation is unattainable if the benefits of people-oriented projects do not reach every individual within society.
He noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi places significant importance on education and mentioned that the implementation of the National Education Policy in the country is a result of the Prime Minister's relentless dedication.
“Guided by PM Modi, the National Education Policy has been successfully rolled out in schools and colleges across our state. Currently, we are receiving students from outside to study in Tripura,” he added.
Tripura has seen the establishment of various private higher education institutions, including Open University, Techno India University, ICFAI University, and International Buddha University.
Institutions such as the National Law University campus, National Forensic Science University campus, National Sanskrit University campus, Central University, IIIT, Fishery College, Agricultural College, Veterinary College, and Tripura Institute of Technology are also operational in the state.
On June 23, Tripura became the third state in India to achieve full literacy, following Goa and Mizoram, with the current literacy rate standing at 95.6%.
Achieving recognition as a fully literate state is a matter of immense pride for the people of Tripura, Saha concluded.
