Jaipur, Dec 19 (NationPress) A collaborative effort by the District Special Team (DST) and Sadar Police Station led to the discovery of an illegal mephedrone (MD) drug production facility in the village of Kerli Adarsh Chawa, located in Rajasthan's Barmer district.

In a well-coordinated raid with the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) from Jodhpur, authorities seized drugs, chemicals, machinery, and vehicles valued at around ₹85 crore.

Superintendent of Police Narendra Singh Meena reported that reliable intelligence indicated that a notorious smuggler, Motaram Jat, was operating this drug manufacturing operation from a residence owned by Bhairaram Jat. Upon receiving the tip-off, SP Meena personally led the police force to surround the premises.

During the search, law enforcement recovered 39 kg and 777 grams of finished MD powder and 99 kg and 931 grams of liquid chemicals drying on the rooftop. Officials noted that if the liquid had been fully processed, its street value could have surged by an additional ₹50 crore.

The residence had been transformed into a fully equipped drug laboratory. Seized items included an iron furnace, deep freezer, vacuum pump, digital thermometer, 19 large glass containers, four mixing machines, multiple 100-litre tanks, and additional processing tools.

Additionally, a Scorpio SUV and a Kia car, believed to be utilized for drug trafficking, were confiscated at the scene.

SP Meena identified Motaram Jat as the mastermind behind the operation. Jat is a wanted criminal with a ₹15,000 bounty placed on him by the Balotra and Sri Ganganagar police. He reportedly escaped the scene with his accomplice Dinesh Giri and another associate.

Authorities have identified all three suspects and formed specialized teams to apprehend them. Given the severe implications of the case and the substantial international market value of the confiscated drugs, the NCB Jodhpur unit has been enlisted to aid in the investigation.

A formal case has been initiated under pertinent sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and Section 111(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

SP Meena characterized this seizure as one of the largest in Barmer police history, emphasizing that investigations are ongoing to trace both upstream and downstream connections to dismantle the entire drug syndicate.

“The absconding suspects will be apprehended shortly,” he asserted.

Constable Ramswaroop of the DST played a vital role in the success of this operation. The team included Additional SP Nitesh Arya, Circle Officer Ramesh Kumar, Probationary RPS Manju Chauhan, DST In-charge Adesh Kumar, Sadar SHO Kartar Singh, and Women Police Station Officer Devichand Dhaka, along with a significant police presence.
