Did MP Police Uncover a Secret Drug Factory in Neemuch Worth Rs 30 Crore?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Neemuch/Bhopal, Nov 28 (NationPress) In a significant crackdown on synthetic drug syndicates, the Narcotics Wing of the Madhya Pradesh Police conducted a raid on a hidden farmhouse located in Lasudiya village under Rampura police station in Neemuch district on Friday, successfully dismantling an operational Mephedrone (MD) production facility.
During the operation, three individuals were apprehended: Niranjan Dayama from Khedi, Manasa, and Arjun Garasiya and Ramesh Garasiya from Lasudiya. Authorities seized 2.7 kg of solid MD, 16 kg of liquid MD, and over 70 kg of precursor chemicals along with manufacturing apparatus.
The total value of the confiscated substances exceeds Rs 30 crore in the international market. This raid is part of the ongoing state-wide “Drug Attack” initiative directed by DGP Kailash Makwana.
KP Venkateshwar Rao, Additional Director General of Police (Narcotics), stated that the operation was based on a precise tip-off from an informant. He emphasized that while drug traffickers continuously adapt their strategies, police forces remain vigilant and proactive.
The farmhouse had been transformed into a sophisticated clandestine lab featuring distinct areas for mixing, crystallization, and packaging processes. Additionally, three motorcycles and three mobile phones utilized by the suspects were confiscated.
The operation was spearheaded by DIG (Narcotics) Mahesh Chand Jain and executed by a collaborative team from the Indore and Neemuch Narcotics Cells, including Inspectors Rakesh Chaudhary, Bharat Singh Chavda, Harish Solanki, Tejendra Singh Sengar, and Malay Mahant. The Neemuch SP Ankit Jaiswal and local police provided essential ground support.
A case has been filed under various sections of the NDPS Act. Interrogations of the arrested suspects have commenced to uncover both forward and backward linkages, including potential supply routes to Rajasthan, Gujarat, and international markets.
Officials noted that dismantling an active MD production unit within Madhya Pradesh is uncommon and represents a significant setback for synthetic drug trafficking networks that have increasingly relocated their operations from Gujarat to the border districts of MP.
The “Drug Attack” campaign, initiated last month, has already led to considerable seizures throughout the state. Authorities anticipate that this latest operation will severely impact the supply of party drug MD, especially with the New Year festivities approaching.
