Bengaluru, Nov 18 (NationPress) The Leader of the Opposition in the Karnataka Legislative Council, Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, stated that AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge possesses "no influence" over Congress party matters, expressing surprise that throughout the Bihar elections, his images were notably absent.
During a press briefing at the BJP state headquarters, Jagannath Bhavan, in Bengaluru, Narayanaswamy criticized, "The Congress high command is virtually nonexistent. The AICC president should ideally be the high command, yet Karnataka Congress leaders appear oblivious to this reality."
He further remarked, "It seems they are under the impression that Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, is still the AICC president."
Narayanaswamy questioned the lack of Kharge's photos in campaign materials, contrasting it with the prominence of Rahul Gandhi's images during the Bihar polls.
He noted that while state Congress leaders advocate for a leadership change, discussions about a cabinet reshuffle are also surfacing.
"In Gujarat, ministers resigned in the morning, and by the next day, a completely new cabinet was established. Here, a cabinet reshuffle has turned into a grand spectacle over the course of an entire year," he quipped.
He criticized Minister for RDPR, IT and BT, Priyank Kharge, asserting he is "unrivaled in dishonesty."
Narayanaswamy recalled Priyank's assurances against allowing a Rastriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) route march in his Chittapur constituency, which took place nonetheless, indicating a need for him to comprehend the situation.
Regarding the issue of bomb blasts, he emphasized that it should not be linked to religion or caste, posing the question, "Who executed the Parliament attack and the Pulwama attack?"
Concerning a recent bomb threat to the Metro, Narayanaswamy remarked it could be either false or genuine but noted a rise in such incidents.
He raised concerns about the law and order situation in Karnataka, claiming that if the state government enforced penalties for wrongdoers, such occurrences could be mitigated.
"When it comes to social media posts, they swiftly deploy police and make arrests; however, when actual criminal activities transpire, this government appears lenient," he concluded.
