Chennai, Nov 18 (NationPress) The upcoming visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Coimbatore on Wednesday for the South India Organic Farmers’ Summit has resulted in extensive security preparations, with more than 3,000 police officers deployed throughout the city.
This significant three-day summit is set to commence at the Codissia Trade Fair Complex on Wednesday and will continue until November 21. The Prime Minister is scheduled to inaugurate the event and will honor 18 exemplary organic farmers for their contributions to sustainable agriculture during the ceremony.
Expected to gather over 50,000 organic farmers from various southern states, the summit is generating considerable interest.
According to the official itinerary, Prime Minister Modi will land at Coimbatore International Airport at 1:25 p.m. on Wednesday, arriving via a private aircraft from Puttaparthi, Andhra Pradesh. BJP leaders and supporters are preparing a grand welcome for him at the airport.
Following his arrival, he will travel by road and is anticipated to reach the Codissia Arena by 1:40 p.m. to officially open the summit.
After the event, the Prime Minister will depart at 3:15 p.m. and is expected to return to the airport by 3:30 p.m. for his flight back to New Delhi.
With the high-profile nature of the visit and the anticipated large turnout, authorities have implemented extensive security measures across Coimbatore.
The Codissia facility is under the supervision of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), and parking at the Coimbatore airport has been suspended from Tuesday until 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
Traffic diversions have been established along Avinashi Road, one of the city’s busiest routes. Buses and heavy vehicles coming from Salem, Erode, and Tiruppur will not be allowed to use the airport route and must enter the city via Ondipudur and Singanallur.
On Wednesday, from 12 noon to 3 p.m., all vehicles, including taxis, will be completely barred from entering the airport.
Passengers are advised to reach the airport before noon; those arriving later will need to disembark at Chitra Junction and walk to the terminal.
The G.D. Naidu flyover will also be closed during this time, and entry of heavy vehicles into the city will be restricted from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday.
The existing drone-flying ban has been expanded to include areas such as Singanallur, Chinniyampalayam, SIHS Colony, Nehru Nagar, Kalapatti, Codissia campus, Peelamedu, Saravanampatti, Ramanathapuram, and Race Course.
These zones will remain in a heightened security state until 7 p.m. on Wednesday. As the city prepares for the Prime Minister’s visit and the substantial gathering of farmers, Coimbatore is experiencing a comprehensive security operation aimed at ensuring a seamless and incident-free event.
