Chennai, Nov 19 (NationPress) During his trip to Coimbatore on Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to unveil the 21st installment of the PM-KISAN income support initiative, totaling Rs 18,000 crore benefiting more than nine crore farmers.
Additionally, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the South India Organic Farming Conference, organized by the Tamil Nadu Organic Farmers’ Federation at the CODISSIA campus.
Upon arriving at the Coimbatore International Airport from Puttaparthi, Andhra Pradesh, PM Modi will be welcomed by Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi and key government officials. He is scheduled to travel by road to the CODISSIA Trade Complex around 1.30 p.m., where a grand reception is planned by the South India Organic Farmers’ Federation.
At this conference, the Prime Minister will officially inaugurate the event and deliver a keynote speech that underscores the importance of sustainable agriculture. He is anticipated to elaborate on the PM-KISAN scheme, which provides farmers with an annual financial aid of Rs 6,000 in three tranches.
The funds being disbursed on Wednesday aim to assist nine crore farmers nationwide, including 21,80,204 from Tamil Nadu, with 44,837 farmers in Coimbatore district receiving support.
Moreover, PM Modi will honor farmers who excel in organic farming by presenting them with awards that recognize their contributions. Following this, he will engage with organic farmers and agricultural scientists to discuss innovations and challenges in sustainable agriculture.
The Prime Minister is also scheduled to visit stalls set up by organic farmers to review a diverse range of agricultural products and value-added items.
His itinerary at the CODISSIA complex is expected to last until approximately 3.30 p.m., after which he will return to the Coimbatore airport for his flight back to New Delhi.
Thousands of organic farmers from Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and other southern states have gathered in Coimbatore for this major conference, recognized as one of the largest organic farming events in the region.
For the Prime Minister’s visit, a comprehensive five-layer security arrangement has been implemented. The entire CODISSIA campus is under the surveillance of the Special Protection Group (SPG), with police personnel on constant duty. Drone operations have also been prohibited in and around the venue.
Strict security protocols have been established along the Coimbatore–Avinashi Road leading to the event site.
