Kolkata, July 9 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, addressed a letter to NITI Aayog Vice Chairperson Suman Bery, expressing her serious concern over an error that misrepresented Bihar as West Bengal in the 'Summary Report' available on the official website of this esteemed national body.
In her letter, she stated, "This significant oversight in an official document from a top national institution is not just a minor mistake—it is a challenge to the identity and dignity of West Bengal. Such a serious error in a NITI Aayog publication indicates a troubling lack of care and respect for the states within our Union," the letter elaborated.
She pointed out that the map designed to illustrate West Bengal incorrectly showcased Bihar's territory instead, highlighting the impactful implications of such inaccuracies.
According to Banerjee, "This mistake raises valid concerns regarding the thoroughness and dependability of the institution's outputs, which are essential for informed decision-making by both policymakers and citizens alike."
She remarked that this blunder raises substantial doubts regarding the quality, authenticity, and credibility of NITI Aayog's reports and publications.
"The Government of West Bengal firmly denounces this inaccuracy and urges NITI Aayog to provide a clarification, extend an apology, rectify the document immediately, and implement stringent measures to prevent such errors in the future," the letter concluded.
The Trinamool Congress has also released a statement, asserting that "disrespecting Bengal's pride has become a norm within the functioning of NITI Aayog."
They further indicated, "The BJP initiated the first significant blow to Bengali pride by replacing Netaji's National Planning Commission with NITI Aayog."
"They insulted Mamata Banerjee by making her endure long waiting periods, only to cut off her microphone during a NITI Aayog meeting," the statement continued.
"Now, in their official State Summary, NITI Aayog has misrepresented Bengal. This is not just an innocent mix-up; it is a calculated effort to diminish our identity," the Trinamool Congress statement concluded.
