Kolkata, Dec 21 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, is scheduled to conduct a significant meeting with the booth-level agents (BLAs) of the Trinamool Congress at the Netaji Indoor Stadium in Kolkata on Monday, as confirmed by a senior leader of the party on Sunday.
As per the Trinamool Congress source, the Chief Minister will engage with selected BLAs from Kolkata and nearby districts.
BLAs representing 11 Assembly constituencies in Kolkata, along with those from chosen constituencies in North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas, Howrah, and Hooghly districts, have been invited to this meeting.
The primary agenda will revolve around the implications of the Election Commission's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of West Bengal's voter rolls.
Following the release of the draft voters' list during the initial phase of SIR, nearly 58.5 lakh voters have been removed from the list statewide.
In percentage terms, the 11 Assembly constituencies of Kolkata have recorded the highest voter removals.
This draft includes the constituency of the Chief Minister, Bhabanipur.
Previously, Mamata Banerjee had met with BLAs from Bhabanipur at her residence in Kalighat last week.
During that meeting, she indicated that there would be broader discussions with the BLAs in the future.
Political analysts suggest that the Chief Minister may express her concerns regarding the Election Commission's role in conducting the SIR during Monday's meeting.
Observers are keenly watching the outcomes of the meeting and the messages conveyed to the BLAs.
Additionally, the Leader of the Opposition in the state Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, a senior BJP leader, will also be present at the Assembly premises around the same time on Monday.
BJP sources indicate that Adhikari has called several BJP MLAs to the state Assembly on Monday.
The BJP's Legislative Party is expected to closely monitor Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's address at the Netaji Indoor Stadium on Monday.
