West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was trailing by 563 votes in the Bhabanipur Assembly constituency in south Kolkata after 16 of 20 rounds of counting were completed on Monday, according to official figures from the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), West Bengal. The All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) was trailing at 80 seats, while the Left Front-All India Secular Front (AISF) and the Indian National Congress each accounted for two seats, with others accounting for another two.

Several senior members of Banerjee's Cabinet reportedly faced defeat, including Minister of State for Finance (Independent Charge) Chandrima Bhattacharya, Women and Child Development and Social Welfare Minister Dr Shashi Panja, Fire Services Minister Sujit Bose, and Education Minister Bratya Basu, among others.
