The victim was near his residence, and the incident occurred merely an hour before he was set to celebrate his birthday. The assailants were acquaintances with whom he had arranged to meet in order to resolve a dispute. In an astonishing act of cruelty, the shooter first embraced the young man before fatally shooting him in the head.
The gunfire was reported around 11:09 p.m. near the Chhotu Halwai Shop in V Block, Naveen Shahdara, prompting a swift response from law enforcement.
Upon arrival, officers from the Shahdara police station discovered Gagan with a gunshot wound to the head.

Family members revealed that Gagan had gone out to meet a friend just prior to the attack.
His father, Ravi Kumar, shared with IANS, "Gagan came downstairs to meet the person, they shared a hug, and with that, the person shot Gagan in the head. He then fired several shots into the air. When I descended, my son was lying there. I am unaware of any altercation."
Gagan was married and had a son who was just 10 days old.
According to police, upon reaching the scene, it was confirmed that Gagan, known locally as a 'Bad Character (BC)', had suffered a bullet wound to the right side of his head. He was rushed to GTB Hospital, where medical staff pronounced him 'brought dead.'
Officials stated that the two suspects arrived on a motorcycle to carry out the act. One suspect has been detained along with the motorcycle, while the second attacker remains at large.
Initial reports indicate that Gagan had a recent conflict with the suspects, and they had come together to address the issue.
