Imphal, Oct 9 (NationPress) In a significant counter-insurgency operation, a collaborative team of Assam Rifles and Manipur Police Commandos executed a search mission in the Kakching District of Manipur, leading to the discovery of various arms and ammunition, as reported by officials on Thursday.

A defense spokesperson revealed that the operation was initiated following precise intelligence regarding the presence of insurgents and a suspected hideout filled with war-like materials in the Thambal Chingya area of the mountainous Kakching District, executed with precision and coordination.

The team, consisting of 16 personnel, conducted a thorough sweep of the designated area, resulting in the successful retrieval of a substantial cache of weapons and ammunition.

Among the seized items are one AK-47 rifle, one G3 rifle, one modified single-barrel rifle, three bolt-action single-barrel rifles, one hand grenade, and 60 rounds of live ammunition of various calibers.

Additional war-like materials were also confiscated during the operation. The recovered arms and ammunition were promptly transferred to the Kakching Police Station for further investigation and legal procedures.

The spokesperson noted that this operation represents a critical advancement in curbing the activities of insurgent groups in the region and underscores the effectiveness of coordinated security efforts aimed at ensuring public safety.
