Mayengbam Veto Singh, the Joint Secretary of the Home Department, urged the public to come forth with any pertinent details that could aid in the safe recovery of the missing individual.
“The state government has set a reward of Rs 10 lakh for credible information leading to Mukhesh's safe return,” Singh mentioned in the announcement.
Under the guidance of a senior officer, Manipur Police, along with the Assam Rifles and other security agencies, have been conducting joint search and rescue operations in areas suspected to be related to the case, including Bishnupur, Churachandpur, Noney, and other regions of the state, employing advanced technical data analysis and intelligence gathering.
Last week, members of the Joint Action Committee (JAC), who have been protesting since the youth disappeared and advocating for his rescue, along with his parents, met with Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla at Raj Bhavan. The Governor assured that the government is making every effort to locate Mukhesh and reunite him with his family.
During the meeting, the JAC members and Mukhesh’s parents pressed the Governor to take swift actions for his recovery. “The Governor assured the JAC and Mukhesh’s family that the government is committed to tracing him promptly and reuniting him with his loved ones,” a Raj Bhavan official reported.
Mukhesh’s mother previously appealed passionately to the authorities to guarantee her son's safety. A police officer indicated that the state police, along with the Assam Rifles and other central forces, continued their search operations in Imphal West, Imphal East, Churachandpur, Bishnupur, and Kangpokpi districts for Mukhesh, a resident of the Keishampat Lelmajam Leikal area in Imphal West.
Tracker dogs were deployed to assist in locating the missing youth, and CCTV footage indicated his vehicle was last sighted in Bishnupur district near Chinikon, close to the Kuki-dominated Kangpokpi district. Mukhesh was reported missing after driving towards the tribal-dominated district of Churachandpur on March 16. His family filed a missing person report at the Imphal Police Station.
Official reports indicate that over 30 youths from the Meitei community have reportedly gone missing since the outbreak of ethnic violence in the state 22 months ago.
