Chandigarh, March 15 (NationPress) Raising concerns about the implementation of the delimitation process across the nation, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Saturday charged the Union government, under the leadership of the BJP, with attempting to eliminate its political rivals through this flawed execution.
During an interaction with reporters while sending off a group of 72 teachers to Finland, the Chief Minister stated that the undemocratic tactics employed by the Union government cast doubts on the BJP's intentions.
He asserted that strategically, the number of seats in states where the BJP and its allies are weak is being reduced, while those in regions where the BJP's divisive agenda thrives are being increased. Mann expressed that all like-minded parties would unite against this oppression from the Union government that seeks to undermine democracy.
In response to another question, the Chief Minister remarked that as a border state, Punjab faces threats from numerous forces plotting to disrupt its hard-earned peace.
Nevertheless, he noted that the alert Punjab Police has consistently thwarted such attempts, as the police force has been modernized to meet advanced demands in investigation, science, and technology.
Mann expressed confidence that the Punjab Police would maintain their legacy of serving the public with the highest professional commitment to safeguard the unity, integrity, and sovereignty of the nation.
He also stated that the Amritsar grenade attack incident is linked to disruptive forces aiming to destabilize the peace, progress, and prosperity of the state. He assured that the government would never allow these forces to prevail, and all their conspiracies would be thwarted.
Mann emphasized that the law and order situation in Punjab is significantly better than in other states, as the Punjab Police are closely monitoring the situation.
The Chief Minister pointed out that Punjab has historically been a victim of cross-border terrorism and has been at the forefront of the nation’s battle against drugs and terrorism. He noted that drones have frequently been used to smuggle drugs, weapons, and other illicit items into the state from across the border.
However, Mann stated that it is a source of great pride that the smuggling of drugs via drones has been curtailed since the commencement of the mass movement against drugs, known as 'Yudh Nasheyan Virudh'.
