Patiala, Jan 26 (NationPress) Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann declared on Sunday his commitment to eliminate the forces threatening the state and to thwart their schemes aimed at disrupting the tranquility, communal harmony, and fellowship of the region.

During his address following the Tricolor unfurling at the event celebrating the 76th Republic Day at Polo Ground, the Chief Minister emphasized that Punjab is a divine land of gurus, saints, seers, and martyrs, which has historically served as a beacon of brotherhood and communal peace. He stated that preserving the hard-earned peace of the state is the top priority of his administration, asserting that no one will be permitted to disrupt it.

Mann called upon the community's support to thwart any plots that threaten the peace, advancement, and prosperity of Punjab. He acknowledged the challenges faced by farmers who, despite limited resources, have worked tirelessly to ensure the nation’s food security, often at the expense of over-exploitation of available resources.

The Chief Minister urged the Centre to heed the farmers' demands so they can effectively contribute to the country. He expressed that the suffering of farmers, stemming from the Union government's neglect, is a concern for every Indian who values constitutional principles. He insisted that the Centre must cease its step-motherly treatment towards Punjab and its diligent populace.

Additionally, Mann pointed out the Union government’s negligence regarding Punjab by highlighting that it has not released the state’s outstanding share of the Rural Development Fund (RDF) amounting to Rs 5,500 crore.

“This is inconsistent with the federal structure outlined in the country’s Constitution,” he remarked. He stated that states are not beggars and deserve their rightful allocation of funds from the Centre instead of being subjected to harassment.
