Transformative Road Network Revives Manpur, Chhattisgarh: A Shift from Red Terror
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Raipur, March 24 (NationPress) The lush, forested area of Manpur in the Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh district of Chhattisgarh had long been overshadowed by the fear instigated by ‘red terror’ (naxal insurgency). However, the recent construction of a comprehensive network of roads has significantly transformed the region, effectively halting the cycle of violence.
The remarkable improvements can be attributed to the Central Government's Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), which has facilitated the establishment of intricate roadways throughout the forested expanse.
In the past, locals depended on footpaths to access the district headquarters; now, the enhanced road network has dramatically improved the connectivity of the city.
The roads developed under PMGSY have positively impacted the villagers' lives. Connectivity in the forest regions of the district has seen vast improvements, and the villagers are expressing their heartfelt thanks to the Prime Minister.
Shiv Kumar, a resident, remarked to IANS, "Before, there were no roads in our village. When a villager got sick, reaching the hospital was a challenge. Now, thanks to Modiji, we have a road. If someone falls ill today, we can reach the hospital without difficulties. Living near the forests, we were always anxious about Naxalites, but this road has alleviated our fears. This change is solely due to the Prime Minister."
Another local shared, "A road has been built in our village through the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana. Previously, we had to navigate narrow footpaths to reach the district headquarters, which often resulted in vehicles breaking down and creating hardships. Now, commuting has become incredibly easy."
Chetan, a young villager, expressed to IANS, "The route to our village was in terrible condition before. Now, things have improved remarkably. We can travel anywhere without issues, and all this is thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi."
District Collector Tulika Prajapati mentioned that the construction of roads, bridges, and culverts in the district is progressing swiftly, which is expected to boost development and connectivity in rural regions.
Currently, numerous roads, bridges, and culverts are under construction throughout the district. For the fiscal year 2025-26, ₹1,240 lakhs has been allocated for the renovation of approximately 50 km of roads, with work already underway.
