Hazaribagh, Oct 3 (NationPress) The Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), spearheaded by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has dramatically improved the infrastructure and connectivity of Tetariya village located in the Ichak block of Hazaribagh district, Jharkhand.
Once overlooked due to a severely damaged road system, this village is now linked by a newly built pucca (paved) road under the initiative — a transformation that has significantly enhanced the quality of life for its residents.
Previously, villagers were reluctant to venture outside their homes because of the poor road conditions. Now, they can seamlessly reach the block office and other crucial services. The new roadway has also positively impacted nearly six neighboring villages, ensuring safer and more convenient travel for all.
Local resident Ravishankar Kumar shared with IANS that the road was in dire straits, isolating the village for decades. "People were afraid to step out, especially after dark. The area would become completely deserted in the evening. Patients and pregnant women faced enormous challenges in accessing hospitals. But now, with the new road, life has returned to normal. People are no longer fearful of traveling and can easily connect with the city," he remarked.
Another villager, Ashish Soni, reflected similar feelings. “For years, reaching Tetariya felt like a monumental task. During the rainy season, the road became nearly impassable, making patient transportation a nightmare. But thanks to the newly constructed road under PMGSY, all these challenges are now behind us,” he expressed, extending his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“It is solely because of him that this road became a reality. Now, people can travel from one location to another in considerably less time,” he added.
The village head (Mukhiya), Anita Devi, commended the initiative, calling it a watershed moment for Tetariya's progress. “Villagers had long awaited a good road. It is only due to the Gram Sadak Yojana that this became feasible. Now children can easily attend school, farmers can access markets, and women have timely healthcare services,” she stated.
