Rambai was a native of Murkudi in the Korchi District of Gadchiroli, Maharashtra, and was found with a Single Shot pistol. Meanwhile, Pramila was a member of the Bhoramdev Area Committee and hailed from Paliagudhem under Chintalna police station in Sukma, Chhattisgarh. She was armed with an SLR Rifle and held the position of Area Committee Member (ACM) within the Communist Party of India (Maoist).

These ACMs are tasked with organizing and leading the People's Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) squads in designated regions.

The two women had a combined bounty of Rs 28 lakh on their heads.

“Following a comprehensive strategy implemented by the Central and Madhya Pradesh governments aimed at eradicating the long-standing issue of Left Wing Extremism by March 2026, the Madhya Pradesh Police successfully neutralized two hardcore female Naxalites from the Bhoramdev Area Committee during a significant encounter on April 2, 2025,” stated a communiqué from MP Police.

Security forces are persistently engaging in robust actions against the Maoists. Acting on intelligence regarding Maoists in the Mundidadar-Ganeridadar-Parsatola forest area of Kanha National Park, security personnel were dispatched to locate them. Reports indicate that during the morning search, the Maoists opened fire indiscriminately, intending to inflict harm on the security forces and seize their weapons.

“The security forces, demonstrating remarkable bravery, retaliated effectively. In this operation, two uniformed hardcore female Maoists were eliminated,” officials reported. They recovered one SLR rifle, another loaded rifle, a walkie-talkie, and a knife from the scene. Intensive searches are ongoing in the vicinity to locate other fleeing Maoists, benefiting from the dense forest cover during the encounter.

For the first time in the state, authorities revealed that six Maoists have been killed in two separate encounters within a span of one and a half months.

Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav remarked, “In today’s encounter in the dense forest under the Bichiya police station of Mandla district, Hawk Force personnel successfully neutralized two female Naxalites, each carrying a reward of Rs 14 lakh, and seized weapons, including SLR rifles and other equipment.”

The chief minister praised the security forces for their valor, stating, “This success will undoubtedly bolster our commitment to completely liberate India from the Naxal issue by March 2026, under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the leadership of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Our nation and Madhya Pradesh will be entirely free from terrorism, Naxalism, and extremism.”
