Raipur, Dec 4 (NationPress) ‘Maths Park’ - a groundbreaking and distinctive initiative introduced by a government high school in the Dongargarh block of Rajnandgaon district, Chhattisgarh, has sparked intrigue and enthusiasm among children and students alike, motivating them to visit the center to discover its diverse learning opportunities.

This innovative idea has resonated strongly with communities in rural areas, leading to a significant increase in the number of children visiting the center.

Consequently, a region once plagued by Naxalism has transformed into a vibrant hub for education, employing creative teaching techniques.

At this extraordinary park, concepts from Aryabhatta (the inventor of zero) to Ramanujan are vividly illustrated through engaging figures, models, and activities. The once-daunting mathematical concepts and puzzles have been simplified and made enjoyable, turning learning into a fun experience for children.

This initiative not only alleviates the fear associated with mathematics but also fosters a newfound excitement for the subject among students. Techniques from Vedic mathematics have also been integrated into the park, boosting children's confidence in performing quick and accurate calculations.

A standout aspect of this initiative is that the park was developed by the teachers themselves, who contributed Rs 10 lakh to make it a reality, rather than relying on government funding.

Mathematics educator Gokul Janghel, the mastermind behind this innovation, explained that he aimed to attract and educate children about fundamental mathematical concepts. Various shapes and symbols have been utilized extensively to simplify complex ideas.

The groundwork for this project was laid during the COVID-19 pandemic, starting with 109 students and five teachers.

Principal Kiran Mishra noted that the pandemic caused significant disruption for children, which acted as the “trigger point” for launching such a project. She mentioned that this park has rapidly enhanced children's awareness and interest in mathematics.

Several students have shared their positive experiences with the innovative “Maths Park.”

Niharika Yadav, a Class 9 student, and Udit Narayan Sahu, a Class 10 student, expressed that mathematics has now become their favorite subject because they are learning through games rather than traditional methods.

This government school in Chhattisgarh is demonstrating that a lack of resources is no barrier when intentions are strong and objectives are clear.

The dedication and unwavering commitment of teachers in nurturing “citizens of tomorrow” have ensured that education serves as a catalyst for positive societal change.
