Gurugram, April 8 (NationPress) Chaired by the Mayor of the Municipal Corporation Gurugram (MCG), Rajrani Malhotra, the budget proposal for the financial year 2025-26 was revealed on Tuesday.

The meeting was attended by prominent figures including Gurugram MLA Mukesh Sharma, Municipal Commissioner Ashok Kumar Garg, councillors, and municipal officers.

Chief Account Officer Vijay Singla presented the budget, outlining an expected income of Rs 1571 crore and a projected expenditure of Rs 1497 crore.

The budget sets ambitious targets for revenue generation, including Rs 275 crore from property tax, Rs 100 crore from advertising, and Rs 500 crore from stamp duty.

Additional expected income sources include Rs 50 crore from EDC, Rs 50 crore from water and sewerage charges, Rs 40 crore from miscellaneous sources, Rs 45 crore from bank interest, and Rs 40 crore from municipal tax.

The Municipal Corporation has earmarked Rs 350 crore for cleanliness and solid waste management, Rs 16 crore for sports and health, Rs 80 crore for road development, Rs 35 crore for sewerage and drainage systems, Rs 35 crore for drinking water supply, and Rs 40 crore for public lighting.

Other expenditures include Rs 120 crore for drinking water bills, Rs 102 crore for repair and maintenance, Rs 15 crore for cowshed expenses, and Rs 110 crore for various buildings.

The budget received unanimous approval during the meeting.

Mayor Rajrani Malhotra stated, "This budget represents a crucial stride towards the sustainable development of Gurugram, enhancing cleanliness, infrastructure expansion, and civic amenities. It is seen as a robust strategic initiative to progress Gurugram into a smart city."

MCG Commissioner Ashok Kumar Garg remarked, "This budget is pivotal for the holistic and sustainable growth of Gurugram. We have prioritized the fundamental needs of our citizens while balancing revenue generation and expenses. The allocations for cleanliness, infrastructure, and drinking water supply are steps toward creating a more organized and smart city."

Gurugram MLA Mukesh Sharma emphasized, "All officials and elected representatives must collaborate for Gurugram's development. Officers must prioritize public representatives and swiftly address their reported issues. Ensure you respond to public representatives' calls."

During the meeting, members suggested enhancing income from advertisements, water meter charges, and property tax. They also discussed various ward issues, including property tax data corrections, cleanliness, garbage collection, sewerage, streetlights, illegal animal dairies, stray dogs, monkeys, and waterlogging.
