MDMK's Vaiko Criticizes NTK Leader Seeman Over Comments on Periyar

Chennai, Jan 12 (NationPress) The MDMK, an ally of DMK and a participant in the INDIA coalition, has expressed strong disapproval of Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) founder Seeman for his purportedly abusive comments directed at Dravidian ideologue Periyar E.V. Ramasamy.
In a statement released on Saturday, MDMK General Secretary and MP Vaiko condemned Seeman for his disparaging remarks concerning the Dravidian movement and its esteemed leader, Periyar.
Vaiko remarked, "Seeman behaves like a clown. He shows arrogance when challenged to provide proof for his offensive statements. Numerous opposition parties are voicing their dissent against his remarks, and multiple cases have been initiated throughout the state."
The MDMK leader also pointed out that the Madras High Court bench in Madurai has instructed the Anna Nagar police to submit a report on this matter by January 20.
Vaiko accused Seeman of persistently making inflammatory statements despite ongoing legal proceedings, asserting that his comments are designed to disturb the social harmony of the state and incite a law and order crisis.
"The government must act swiftly to curtail such behavior. Seeman must face consequences for his actions," Vaiko insisted.
Meanwhile, PMK President Anbumani Ramadoss, without explicitly mentioning Seeman's comments, affirmed that his party will not tolerate any form of insult towards Periyar.
"There are innumerable reasons to commend the founder of Dravidar Kazhagam," Anbumani stated.
He further expressed, "If Mahatma Gandhi is celebrated as the hero of India’s freedom struggle, then Periyar is the champion of the social freedom struggle in our state."
The PMK leader underscored Periyar's significant contributions, saying, "When Kalaignar (M. Karunanidhi) initially resisted increasing reservations to 31 percent, Periyar compelled the government to comply. Due to such contributions, the PMK regards him as its ideological mentor."
Anbumani noted that while everyone is entitled to critique Periyar’s ideology, slander against him is intolerable.
Approximately 60 cases have been filed against NTK Chief Coordinator Seeman across various Tamil Nadu districts for his recent contentious comments regarding Periyar.
Political party members from areas including Cuddalore, Madurai, Coimbatore, Dindigul, and Tirunelveli have lodged complaints against Seeman.
His controversial comments made during an event in Vadalur of Cuddalore district have triggered widespread demonstrations.
Earlier, members of Dravida Kazhagam in Thanjavur filed a police complaint on Thursday, demanding Seeman's arrest.
They accused Seeman of attempting to tarnish the reputation of Periyar and his ideology, thereby causing unrest among the populace of Tamil Nadu.
