Hyderabad, Feb 28 (NationPress) The newly-appointed AICC in-charge for Telangana, Meenakshi Natarajan, arrived in Hyderabad by train on Friday to assume her responsibilities.

The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president B Mahesh Kumar Goud and other leaders greeted her at Kachiguda Railway Station.

The state Congress leaders admired the modesty of the former MP from Madhya Pradesh.

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy met the new AICC in-charge at Dilkusha guesthouse. Backward Classes Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, Endowments Minister Konda Surekha, and other senior leaders were also in attendance.

During her first visit to Hyderabad since her appointment, Natarajan is set to participate in a meeting of the TPCC extended executive committee at the party headquarters Gandhi Bhavan later today.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud, state ministers, and other leaders will join the meeting.

"I welcome AICC In-charge for Telangana, Meenakshi Natarajan ji, to the PCC Executive Committee Meeting at Gandhi Bhavan today. Her leadership will bolster our commitment to bringing Congress closer to the people of Telangana. I look forward to working under her guidance," Mahesh Kumar Goud shared on the social media platform 'X'.

AICC president Mallkarjun Kharge appointed Natarajan as AICC in-charge on February 14. She takes over from Deepa Dasmunshi, who had been handling additional responsibilities for Telangana since December 2023.

Dasmunshi, who is the AICC in-charge for Kerala and Lakshadweep, received the additional Telangana role shortly after the Congress party assumed power in the state.

Several party leaders are expected to meet Natarajan at Gandhi Bhavan. Her appointment follows reports of discontent within the party across various Assembly constituencies.

Some MLAs, dissatisfied with the state leadership's approach, allegedly held a covert meeting recently, fueling speculation of dissent.

Approximately 10 MLAs reportedly participated in the meeting and voiced their frustrations regarding one of the ministers. The Congress leader from Madhya Pradesh now faces the immediate challenge of addressing these grievances.

TPCC Disciplinary Committee chairman G. Chinna Reddy and TPCC working president Anjan Kumar Yadav are among the leaders expressing concerns about the current state of affairs in the party. They are likely to meet the new AICC in-charge to communicate their issues.

The new in-charge also needs to address the situation involving MLC Teenmar Mallanna, whose actions—burning a report from a recent caste survey—have caused embarrassment for the ruling party. The MLC labeled the report a conspiracy against Backward Classes and criticized party leaders from the Reddy community.
