Jammu, Feb 13 (NationPress) Former Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir and President of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mehbooba Mufti, advocated for the opening of routes to Pakistan on Thursday. This statement was met with criticism from senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former MLA, Ravinder Raina, who labeled her remarks as extremely irresponsible.

During the launch of her party’s membership campaign at the headquarters in Jammu, Mehbooba Mufti addressed party members and referenced the tragic IED explosion in the Akhnoor sector on February 11, which resulted in the deaths of an army captain and a soldier.

She also condemned the recent killings of two civilians in the Baramulla and Kathua districts.

Critiquing the priorities of the J&K administration, she pointed out that while security meetings are frequently held, little is being done to address the issue of unemployment in the region.

Mehbooba Mufti called for unity among the people of Kashmir, Jammu, and Ladakh, asserting, “People must unite to fight for their rights.”

She further discussed the abrogation of Article 370, arguing that it has led to the erosion of the rights of the people.

In response to her comments, Ravinder Raina stated that her statement was highly irresponsible, emphasizing that terrorism in J&K is Pakistan-sponsored and has persisted for over three decades. He mentioned that J&K has endured significant suffering due to this terrorism, with lethal materials being sent from Pakistan.

Raina asserted that Mehbooba Mufti is aware of this reality, yet continues to mislead the public despite no longer holding the Chief Minister position. He expressed confidence that her efforts would not succeed, stating, “The Prime Minister and the Home Minister have dedicated the past ten years to fostering peace in J&K. Thanks to PM Modi, the region is progressing toward peace, stability, and prosperity.”
