Mumbai, July 19 (NationPress) - Maharashtra's Industry Minister Uday Samant announced on Friday during a session in the State Council that the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) plans to launch centres in four foreign nations aimed at drawing foreign investment to the state.
He emphasized that the inauguration of Tesla's first showroom in Mumbai underscores Maharashtra's reputation as an industry-friendly region.
Responding to a motion for discussion in the State Council, Samant expressed that the Tesla showroom at Bandra-Kurla Complex is a significant achievement for Maharashtra, further enhancing the state's status in the global auto manufacturing sector.
The minister also mentioned that efforts are ongoing to manufacture Tesla vehicles within Maharashtra in the near future.
The recognition of Hapus Mango with a 'GI' Gold Medal has also brought pride to the state. This accolade for Ratnagiri's Hapus Mango has elevated Maharashtra’s standing in the agriculture and fruit production sectors on an international scale.
Furthermore, Minister Samant highlighted Maharashtra's leadership in employment generation and the initiatives aimed at making rural youth self-sufficient through programs like the Chief Minister's Employment Generation Scheme, Vishwakarma Scheme, and Madhache Gaon (honey village).
He assured that Maharashtra is also paving the way in the entertainment sector with the WAVES Summit being hosted in Mumbai. The State Industries Department is committed to granting industry status to entertainment enterprises within the state.
In related news, State Cooperation Minister Babasaheb Patil expressed the government's dedication to fortifying the cooperative movement in the state to bolster the rural economy.
Responding to discussions in the State Council, Minister Patil noted that the central cooperative banks in each district serve as key components of rural and agricultural finance. The government has allocated a fund of Rs 769 crore to support distressed district central cooperative banks.
Approval has been granted to form cooperative societies for Ladkya Bahini (beloved sisters), and directives have been issued to ensure all district agencies maintain government deposits in district cooperative banks. Reports are sought for the establishment of separate district banks for Dhule and Nandurbar.
Additionally, 54 new warehouses have been constructed, with plans for 25 more underway.
State Skill Development Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha announced that the state government has devised a scheme to provide skill training to five lakh candidates and offer financial aid for setting up industries.
In this initial phase, one lakh candidates have been selected.
