Hubballi, May 13 (NationPress) In a deeply disturbing incident, a minor fatally stabbed his 15-year-old companion following a disagreement during a game in Gurusiddeshwara Nagar, Hubballi city, Karnataka.
The victim has been identified as Chetan Rakkasagi.
The juvenile offender has been apprehended and placed in an observation facility.
Police Commissioner N. Shashikumar visited the hospital to support the mourning family.
"This is a tragic event involving young individuals sparked by a minor dispute. In my entire career, this is the first instance I have encountered where such a grave crime, akin to murder, has been committed by children over such trivial matters," he remarked, urging parents to pay closer attention to their children's actions.
According to law enforcement, the accused and the deceased were neighbors. On Monday night, after a minor squabble during playtime, the accused retrieved a knife from his residence and stabbed Chetan in the abdomen. The other children present fled upon witnessing Chetan collapse.
The accused's mother hurried outside upon hearing the uproar and transported Chetan to KIMS Hospital in Hubballi, where medical staff pronounced him dead on arrival.
Chetan had finished the ninth grade, while the accused was in the sixth grade. They were reportedly close friends, often playing together with other children during the summer break.
Initial investigations confirmed that the boys were indeed friends who played together daily in front of their homes. The police are conducting further inquiries into the matter.
On May 18, 2024, a teenager murdered his younger brother over gaming addiction in Bengaluru. The assailant was identified as Shivakumar, a resident of Neriga village near Anekal town on the outskirts of Bengaluru.
Shivakumar confessed to the Sarjapura police that he had struck his 15-year-old brother Pranesh to death due to his frustration over the brother monopolizing his mobile device to play games all day.
