Hubballi, (Karnataka) April 13 (NationPress) A disturbing incident emerged here on Sunday involving a young man who reportedly attempted to sexually assault a five-year-old girl and subsequently strangled her to death when she resisted his advances.

This tragic event took place within the area covered by the Ashokanagar police station in Hubballi.

As per police reports, the suspect lured the child to a shed and tried to assault her. When the girl cried out for help, nearby residents hurried to the scene.

Noticing the approaching crowd, the accused allegedly killed the girl and fled the scene.

Police Commissioner N. Shashikumar announced on Sunday that the victim's parents hail from Koppal. The father is a painter, while the mother works as a maid. Details concerning the suspect are currently unavailable.

A formal complaint has been lodged regarding the assault, and an investigation is ongoing to ascertain whether the girl was sexually assaulted, according to the commissioner.

Additionally, the mother had taken her daughter to work with her, and while she was busy, the suspect reportedly took the girl away.
