Bhopal, May 6 (NationPress) In response to the escalating tensions with Pakistan following the Pahalgam incident, a series of nationwide mock drills focused on wartime survival protocols are scheduled to occur across 244 locations, including five districts in Madhya Pradesh, on Wednesday.
“We are currently awaiting the release of the standard operating procedure (SOP) from the Central government,” stated Kailash Vijayvargiya on Tuesday. He added that once the SOP is finalized, Madhya Pradesh will carry out similar drills in five significant districts: Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Jabalpur, and Katni.
The minister also communicated that “a pivotal meeting regarding this issue is set to occur in New Delhi on Tuesday evening. Following this discussion, the SOP will be released to assist states in implementing survival drills. For now, we are preparing using existing practices.”
Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav informed the minister that comprehensive guidelines are being provided to the District Collector and Superintendents of Police about the Civil Defence Mock Drill scheduled for Wednesday.
In his address before the Council of Ministers, the Chief Minister indicated that due to the current national and international scenarios, mock drills will be conducted in five cities of the state: Indore, Bhopal, Gwalior, Jabalpur, and Katni. These drills will commence at 4 p.m. on Wednesday and will include activities such as danger alerts via sirens, blackouts, safeguarding vital infrastructure, and ensuring safe evacuation of injured individuals during emergencies.
