Key Takeaways
Agartala, Jan 22 (NationPress) Tripura's Chief Minister Manik Saha announced on Thursday that the rule of law has been decisively reinstated in the state, effectively addressing insurgency issues under the governance of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He emphasized that the welfare of every citizen remains the government's foremost priority.
Speaking at an award ceremony recognizing academic achievements among students from minority communities at Pragya Bhavan, CM Saha noted that while the current BJP-led administration is implementing extensive development projects, it also faces numerous challenges inherited from the prior CPI-M government.
"We have been handed various issues from the previous administration, and we are diligently working to resolve them. While they created these challenges, our (BJP) government is committed to fixing them," stated the Chief Minister.
He pointed out that minorities should not be seen as a monolithic group, clarifying that Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, Sikhs, and Jains all fall under the minority classification.
Referencing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's governance philosophy, CM Saha mentioned that India's rising global prominence is attributed to the principles of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, and Sabka Prayas'.
"Our sole aim is the well-being of all Indians. The public trusts the Prime Minister because his actions demonstrate his dedication," he remarked.
Highlighting significant reforms, the Chief Minister stated that the abolition of triple talaq was a pivotal step that earlier administrations avoided due to political reluctance.
"Prime Minister Modi made a courageous choice, ensuring social justice and rights for women from minority communities," he added.
CM Saha also remarked on the transparency brought to Waqf Board matters, including women's inclusion, following reforms initiated by the Modi-led Union government.
"Since the BJP assumed power in Tripura in 2018, the populace has experienced a renewed sense of security, and the rule of law has been reinstated," he stated.
Elaborating on initiatives from the State Minority Welfare Department, the Chief Minister shared that scholarships are being distributed to students, hostels are under construction, madrasas are being enhanced, and infrastructure in minority-dominated regions is being fortified.
Additionally, skill development programs for unemployed youth are being rolled out to encourage self-reliance, he pointed out.
CM Saha also highlighted that unresolved cases left by the previous CPI-M government continue to present financial and administrative hurdles.
"The former regime fostered instability, whereas we are integrating those involved in violence back into the mainstream. The era of unethical governance is over," he concluded.
Present at the event were State Minority Welfare Minister Shukla Charan Noatia, MLA Tafazzal Hossain, Tripura Waqf Board Chairman Moboshar Ali, Tripura Minorities Cooperative Development Corporation Limited Chairman Mohammad Jasim Uddin, Tripura State Haj Committee Chairman Shah Alam, Minority Welfare Department Secretary Tapas Roy, Director Nirmal Adhikari, and other dignitaries.
