Will the Modi government continue to support flood victims in Jammu?

Jammu, Sep 1 (NationPress) Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited the flood-stricken regions of Jammu on Monday and emphasized that the Modi administration will persist in offering both financial aid and additional support to the victims.

On X, Shah reported that he presided over a meeting to evaluate the recent flooding situation in Jammu.

“I directed the water supply and health departments to mobilize all resources to address the healthcare requirements that may arise post-floods. The Modi government is committed to delivering immediate relief alongside financial and technological support,” the Home Minister stated on X following the review meeting.

Earlier, he commented, “Today, I assessed the Tawi Bridge and the destruction caused by the floods in Jammu. The Modi government stands resolutely with the affected populace and will exert every effort to assist them.”

In response to the union minister's concern and his eagerness to alleviate the suffering of those impacted, the office of J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah remarked on X, “The Chief Minister participated in the review meeting led by Hon’ble Home Minister Shri @AmitShah Ji regarding the flood situation in J&K. He expressed appreciation for the visit, which highlights the severity of the crisis and will enhance collaboration. He reiterated that the government's priority remains timely relief, rehabilitation, and rebuilding resilient lives.”

Earlier in the day, the Union Home Minister visited the Tawi Bridge and Bikram Chowk in Jammu city, where the Tawi Bridge experienced significant damage from the recent floods, and private properties in the Bikram Chowk area incurred losses amounting to crores of Rupees.

Accompanying the Union Home Minister were J&K L-G Manoj Sinha, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, senior officials, and BJP leaders during his visit to Tawi Bridge and Bikram Chowk.

Amit Shah also toured Chak Mangu village, which was affected by the recent floods in Jammu. He mentioned that relief and rescue operations are actively conducted by disaster response forces, alongside medical assistance for the impacted individuals.

He reiterated that the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is devoted to implementing adequate measures for the rehabilitation of those affected.

The Chief Minister previously informed the media that the Union Home Minister's visit was solely dedicated to assessing the damage and reviewing relief and rescue operations in the wake of the recent catastrophic flood, with no agenda for security reviews or development evaluations during this trip.

Prior to his arrival late Sunday evening, the Union Home Minister announced the formation of IMCTs for Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Punjab, aimed at evaluating the destruction inflicted by heavy rainfall, flash floods, cloudbursts, and landslides.

A statement from the MHA indicated, “The MHA is coordinating with senior officials from these States/UT and has provided all necessary logistical support by deploying the required number of teams from NDRF, along with Army and Air Force helicopters, assisting in search & rescue and restoration of essential services.

It further stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Central government stands firmly with the states affected by natural disasters to alleviate the hardships faced by the populace. The IMCTs will conduct on-the-ground assessments of the situation and the relief operations undertaken by the State/UT Governments,” it concluded.
