This appointment is viewed as a significant step towards improving the scientific investigation framework in the state, aligning with the objectives of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Director General of Police Rajeev Krishna. Dr. Adarsh Kumar comes with almost 30 years of extensive experience in forensics, having previously worked as a medico-legal expert for both the CBI and the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC).
Remarkably, he is the only scientist globally to have received the Commonwealth Fellowship twice. During his tenure, he collaborated with the Scotland Police, acquiring valuable insights into international investigative practices. His wealth of experience and global viewpoint is anticipated to propel the state's forensic science laboratories to unprecedented heights and new directions.
Upon assuming his responsibilities, Dr. Adarsh Kumar held a meeting with Additional Director General of Police, Technical Services Headquarters, Lucknow, Naveen Arora (IPS). The officials engaged in comprehensive discussions addressing critical matters like resolving pending cases, modernizing laboratories, acquiring new equipment, implementing advanced technologies, filling vacant positions, promoting personnel, and resolving audit objections. ADG Arora congratulated Dr. Kumar on his new appointment, expressing optimism that under his guidance, the department would achieve greater success.
In his inaugural address, Dr. Adarsh Kumar underscored that his primary goal is to elevate the forensic laboratories to unprecedented levels of technical excellence. He stressed that adopting state-of-the-art equipment, fostering research, and enhancing quality control processes will be among his top priorities. According to him, these initiatives will not only expedite criminal investigations but also establish a stronger scientific foundation for the state’s justice system.
