Hyderabad police have imposed sweeping traffic restrictions across major routes on Sunday, 10 May, ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the city. Curbs are in effect across the Hyderabad, Cyberabad, and Malkajgiri police commissionerates from 1 pm to 10 pm IST, as the Prime Minister is scheduled to inaugurate development projects worth approximately ₹9,377 crore and address a large public gathering.

PM Modi's Itinerary in Hyderabad

After arriving at Begumpet Airport from Bengaluru, Prime Minister Modi will travel by road to the Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC) in Cyberabad, where he will lay the foundation stone, inaugurate, and dedicate to the nation multiple development projects worth around ₹9,377 crore.

He will also formally inaugurate Sindhu Hospital, described as a state-of-the-art, cancer-focused, multi-super speciality quaternary care not-for-profit institution. The Prime Minister will subsequently proceed to Parade Grounds, Secunderabad, to address a public meeting and launch additional development projects.

Traffic Restrictions and Diversions

Police have advised citizens to avoid road stretches along the Prime Minister's convoy route from Begumpet Airport to Hitech City, Cyberabad. Additionally, the public has been requested to avoid M.G. Road, R.P. Road, and S.D. Road in Secunderabad between 2 pm and 10 pm.

Passengers travelling to Secunderabad Railway Station have been advised to start early, and citizens have been encouraged to use Metro Rail services wherever possible to minimise disruption.

Security Deployment at Parade Grounds

For the public meeting at Parade Grounds, over 2,000 police personnel and 620 traffic police personnel have been deployed under the leadership of Malkajgiri Police Commissioner B. Sumathi. Specialised forces including OCTOPUS, NSG, and bomb disposal units are conducting anti-sabotage checks. SHE teams have been deployed for women's safety, while emergency medical and fire services are on standby.

A Joint Command and Control Room equipped with CCTV cameras has been set up for real-time monitoring. The areas surrounding Parade Ground will be brought under police control four hours prior to the event, and the entire vicinity has been declared a No-Drone Zone.

What Attendees Must Know

Authorities have prohibited cameras, bags, helmets, water bottles, sharp objects, and electronic gadgets at the public meeting venue. Every individual will undergo a thorough security check at entry gates.

Commissioner Sumathi estimated that approximately 1,00,000 people are expected to attend the event. She urged citizens to follow traffic guidelines and heed advance advisories issued by the police. This is among the largest security deployments seen in Hyderabad in recent months, reflecting the scale of the Prime Minister's programme in the city.

With projects worth nearly ₹9,377 crore on the agenda, Sunday's visit is set to be one of the most significant infrastructure-focused engagements by the Centre in Telangana this year.
