New Delhi, Dec 17 (NationPress) As Prime Minister Narendra Modi was awarded Ethiopia’s highest civilian distinction, the ‘Great Honour Nishan of Ethiopia’, leaders from both the BJP and JD(U) characterized this accolade as a significant source of pride for the entire nation.
In a conversation with IANS, BJP Rajya Sabha member Brijlal stated that the prestigious honour given to the Prime Minister by Ethiopia serves as a tribute to all 1.4 billion citizens of India.
“This recognition is for every Indian, and we take immense pride in it. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is seen as one of the leading figures on the global stage today. Nations worldwide, especially in Africa and Asia, are turning towards his leadership and vision,” he remarked.
BJP MP Rajkumar Chahar also praised the honour, indicating that the award reflects India’s increasing prominence on the world stage.
“The way Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been acknowledged in nations like Jordan and Ethiopia is a matter of great national pride. Every Indian is genuinely thrilled by this recognition, which symbolizes the respect India holds globally,” he added.
JD(U) national spokesperson Rajeev Ranjan Prasad emphasized that Prime Minister Modi is recognized as a global leader.
“He has diligently worked to enhance India’s relationships with countries he hadn’t previously visited. The bond between India and Ethiopia is of paramount importance, and in this light, Ethiopia bestowing its highest civilian award upon the Prime Minister is indeed a matter of pride,” he stated.
JD(U) spokesperson Neeraj Kumar shared similar thoughts, calling the honour a moment of national pride.
“It is only natural for such recognition to be awarded to the Prime Minister. For the nation, it is a significant source of pride that he has received Ethiopia’s highest civilian award. This accolade reflects national honour and India’s growing influence in international affairs,” he noted.
The award was presented during a special ceremony at the Addis International Convention Centre by Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, in recognition of PM Modi’s outstanding contributions to strengthening India-Ethiopia relations and his leadership as a global statesman.
Earlier, PM Modi conveyed his gratitude to the people and the Government of Ethiopia for presenting him with the country’s highest award, the ‘Great Honour Nishan of Ethiopia’.
On the social media platform X, Prime Minister Modi stated, “I am grateful to the people and Government of Ethiopia, as well as Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali, for conferring upon me the ‘Great Honour Nishan of Ethiopia’ yesterday. To be recognized by one of the world’s most ancient and rich civilizations is a tremendous source of pride. This honour is dedicated to the countless Indians who have contributed to strengthening our partnership over the years.”
“India is committed to further enhancing cooperation with Ethiopia to tackle evolving global challenges and to create new opportunities,” he concluded.
