Key Takeaways
Jaipur, April 8 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to arrive in Rajasthan on April 21 to officially launch the Pachpadra Refinery in Balotra, which is a state-of-the-art greenfield refinery and petrochemical facility.
Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, sharing this announcement on his official ‘X’ platform, expressed his honor and enthusiasm regarding the Prime Minister's visit, stating, 'It's a significant moment for Rajasthan as we welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi to inaugurate this major initiative.'
“With great pride, I announce that our esteemed Prime Minister, Honorable Shri Narendra Modi Ji, will be visiting ‘Veerdhara’ Rajasthan on April 21, 2026, to inaugurate the Pachpadra Refinery. This facility is poised to serve as a vital 'lifeline,' fostering economic growth throughout Rajasthan, particularly in the Marwar region, and creating numerous job opportunities for our youth. On behalf of the people of Rajasthan, I extend my heartfelt welcome to the Honorable Prime Minister,” CM Sharma posted on X.
The Pachpadra Refinery is a collaborative project between HPCL and the Government of Rajasthan, representing one of India's most advanced refining operations, fully adhering to BS-VI standards.
Interestingly, both a refinery and a petrochemical facility are being built concurrently at this location. This project is designed as a 'Zero Liquid Effluent Discharge' initiative, ensuring that no liquid waste is produced during the crude oil refining process, marking a pivotal step in environmental sustainability. The refinery boasts an annual crude oil processing capability of nine million tonnes, alongside an integrated petrochemical complex with a capacity of two million tonnes.
About 7.5 million tonnes of the total crude requirement will be imported from Arab nations, with approximately 1.5 million tonnes sourced locally.
Constructed with an estimated investment of Rs 80,000 crore, this project is anticipated to create substantial employment opportunities and significantly enhance economic activity. The refining operations and production of petrochemical products will also boost freight transportation in the region. Plans are in progress to improve the connectivity between Balotra and Pachpadra to support this growth.
PM Modi had previously visited Ajmer on February 28. His upcoming trip marks his second visit to Rajasthan within the last two months. During his earlier visit to Ajmer, he inaugurated development projects worth over Rs 16,000 crore across the state and distributed appointment letters to more than 21,000 young individuals.
